Spring Football Underway
Updated: May 14, 2008, 2 p.m.

PICKENS COUNTY — The sound of pads crunching is once again filling the air, as spring football practice is under way for all four Pickens County high schools.

For the first time, all four teams will be able to practice in full pads for seven of their 10 practices, thanks to a new ruling by the South Carolina High School League.

Daniel and Easley both began spring practice last Monday and will hold their spring games this Friday.

Pickens opened spring practice last Wednesday, and are going Monday-Thursday this week and next week, with the annual Blue and White game next Thursday evening.

Liberty began spring ball Tuesday and will go through Thursday in shorts and helmets before going in full pads next Monday through Thursday, and the following Tuesday through Thursday. The Devils will not have a spring game, but practice is scheduled from 4-6 p.m. after school each day.
